A Message from the NWTCA - COVID19
As many of you are aware the GNWT recently announced its Emerging Wisely plan which outlines the path forward to emerging safely and wisely from the current COVID-19 public health restrictions. The document stated that curling could return when final measures are lifted. We want to notify our curling members that the NWT Curling Association (NWTCA) is working with the GNWT, Curling Canada, the Provincial/Territorials Curling Associations and Sport North in creating "Return to Curling Guidelines" that will enable curling to return this fall in a safe and responsible manner. The NWTCA will offer recommendations for club administrators, coaches, and anyone organizing curling-related activities. The NWTCA is committed to safe sport and will work with our partners over the coming weeks. If practiced responsibly, curling can be a great opportunity for participants to relieve stress, socialize with others, provide much-needed exercise and serve an important role in the NWT's recovery.
One of the many highlights during the 2019/20 curling season was the inaugural U12/U15 Rock the Rings event for NWT Junior Curlers. The winning teams got to design their own championships jackets with NWTCA uniform supplier Runback. The second and third place teams designed their own curling shirts. Congrats to all of the teams and we will see you all in Yellowknife in February 2021.
Above is Team Sanderson from Inuvik who were the U12 champions!
The NWT Curling Association will be holding their annual Spring Planning meeting on June 5 & 6. There will be a special session on the NWT Junior Curling Championships from 1-3pm on Saturday June 6th. Please contact Nick Saturnino if you would like to join the discussion.
